Journalists boycott PM’s press briefing

ISLAMABAD: Journalists on Tuesday boycotted Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s press briefing because he came over two and a half hours late to the event after attending a meeting at the Ministry of Water and Power.

Journalists were invited to the PM’s briefing at 12pm at A-block of Pak Secretariat but the prime minister came to the function over two and a half hours late, upon which reporters went on a strike.

After finishing the meeting, when Gilani arrived at the reception and went straightaway to the dais, he was surprised to see that journalists were on the strike. He told the journalists that the meeting was prolonged, which was why they had to wait.

The journalists did not buy the argument and the prime minister had to go away without giving the press briefing. Crew of private TV channels remained there for three hours for live coverage but did not cover the event.
