Journalist, two others shot dead

SUKKUR: A journalist, his brother and a friend were gunned down in their office by armed persons in Lalo Raink in Kambar-Shahdadkot district on Thursday.

Sources said a girl Khushboo Mughairi had eloped with her paramour Tanveer Tunio four days back. The eloping led to tensions between Tunia and Mughairi clans and enraged Mughairis ousted some people of Tunia from their houses and occupied them.

Some elite of the city and police managed to recover the girl and returned her to Mubarak Mughairi, her father, but this did not pacify the Mughairis. They resorted to heavy firing in the air and forced closure of the market of Lalo Raink, a small town of Kambar-Shahdadkot.

Later, they rushed to the office of the local news reporter of a TV channel, where they opened indiscriminate fire and killed the reporter Aurangzeb Tunio, his brother Rustum Tunio and his friend Deedar Khaskheli. The attackers considered Aurangzeb Tunio had supported the girl’s kidnapper Tanveer Tunio. Sources said the armed men spread fear, panic with heavy firing and forced shutdown of the market.
