Journalist impersonator held

Karachi: The personnel of the Boat Basin police station have arrested a man who impersonated himself as a crime reporter of an organisation, and also recovered fake identification cards of various newspaper organisations.
The police said that on Friday morning, a man entered the Little Lord High School situated in Shireen Jinnah Colony and introduced himself as Chaudhry Imran, crime reporter of a local newspaper to the school’s principal Walter Jalal. He then started blackmailing the principal and demanded money.
In the meantime, another person sitting with the principal, who knew the reporters of that local newspaper, called the newspaper office and verified the name. Later authorities asked Imran to show his identity card, which was of another newspaper and they called the Boat Basin police.
The police reached the school and arrested the accused. They also recovered various cards of different newspaper organisations. During investigation, the accused told investigators that two months ago, the principal of the school had expelled his wife and he tried to get her reappointed. The police have lodged an FIR, while further probe is underway.
