Journalism is a dynamic global industry

LAHORE – A briefing/seminar about the education and training of working journalists was held at the Nisar Osmani Auditorium of the Lahore Press Club on Wednesday.

Director British Council Education Pakistan Rukhshanda Khushal briefed the journalists about the various education and training opportunities available in the UK educational institutions. Education Manager British Council Lahore Hassan Khan was also present on the occasion. The seminar was organised by LPC in cooperation with British Council Lahore. Khushal is based in Islamabad and had especially come for the event.

The briefing was attended by a number of young journalists and journalists in their mid-careers.

British Alumni Raja Riaz and Farah Zia shared their experience of education and training in UK, the facilities available there and the positive change that came after their visit there.

“Journalism is a dynamic global industry and there is an increasing need for suitably qualified, flexible and multi-skilled entrants who are equipped to be effective practitioners within a rapidly changing, converging international media context,” Khushal said.

She dilated about the various short and long courses in different universities and educational institutions that are ideally suited for Pakistani journalists. She briefed about the career based vocational courses and also gave details about the different scholarships.

The seminar was interactive and the participants asked questions about how to apply for admission and scholarships.
