Jirga imposes meagre fine on man for killing wife

MANSEHRA: A jirga of provincially administered tribal area of Kala Dhaka has imposed a meagre fine of Rs80,000 on a man for allegedly killing his wife.

Sources said that Nazir Syed, a resident of Charakot Mada Khel in Kala Dhaka, allegedly slaughtered his wife and threw his body in a forest a couple of days ago.

A jirga of elders from Meda Khail was held to settle the dispute between the two families. The jirga imposed Rs80,000 as penalty on the alleged killer. The money would be paid to the relatives of the deceased as Diyat.

The residents of the area said that the deceased was an innocent woman and did nothing wrong. In another incident a man was shot dead over the ownership of steel sheets in Kala Dhaka.

Sources said that a watchman of a local school identified as Rozi Mohammad got infuriated after exchange of hot words with Mohammad Qasim and opened indiscriminate firing on him. As a result Qasin died on the spot, they added.

The local jirga ordered to torch seven houses of the alleged killer and his relatives.
