JI women’s wing demonstrates against US hegemony

Karachi: The Jamaat-e-Islami Women’s Wing staged a protest on Wednesday outside the Karachi Press Club (KPC) in connection with the party’s “Go America Go” campaign. Participants carried placards and banners inscribed with, “Down with the US”.

Addressing the rally, Mohammed Hussain Mehanti criticised the Zardari government for taking dictation from the US. He said that present government has waged war against its own people in the name of “Operation Rah-e-Rast”.

He demanded an immediate halt to the Swat operation and recovery of Dr Aafia Siddiqui. He further said that the government had made no proper arrangements for internally displaced people of Swat and Malakand.

JI to organise ‘Go America Go’ rally: The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has announced the launch of a “Go America Go” movement across the country because “peace cannot be maintained in Pakistan unless foreign troops are withdrawn and US intervention ends.”

The local JI chapter has announced a children’s rally on June 7 which will start from Regal Chowk and terminate at the Karachi Press Club (KPC). The JI has contacted the principals of educational institutions to muster support.

The main programme will be held on June 14, and the “Go America Go” march will be addressed by central leaders of the party. They have also appealed to all the political parties in the opposition to participate in the march.
