Jamaat-i-Islami to hold anti-film rally on Sunday

Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) has finalised arrangements for its much-awaited rally against the anti-Islam film in the metropolis which will now take place on Sunday, October 7, JI spokesman said on Thursday. The JI had postponed its ‘Namoos e Mustafa’ march against the sacrilegious movie earlier for some reasons. The march will now be staged on main M.A. Jinnah Road on Sunday, which will set off from Nomaish Chowrangi to Tibet Center.

According to the JI, the march will primarily denounce the blasphemous film. It blamed the US and Israel for the film. It said that the JI has begun its drive of door-to-door contact to galvanize support for the rally. The JI has also started publicity campaign through banners, handbills and mobile floats across the city, urging the public to participate against the hate film.

In this regard, corner meetings and camps would be set-up, besides staging protest demonstrations, outside Mosques. JI Karachi has also called a meeting of subordinate organisations on Friday. Meanwhile in a statement of Thursday, JI Karachi Amir Muhammad Hussain Mehnati said that the US and other Western powers had exposed their enmity to Muslims through the movie.

He further said that they had hurt the feelings of the entire Muslim Umma on the pretext of freedom of speech and individual freedom. He said it was a matter of great shame for the so-called super power that it was supporting the nefarious act, while terming it an act of an individual. He said preachers of tolerance and harmony should adopt tolerance and avoid such steps that would put the peace of world at stake. He appealed to the masses to participate in the march.
