Jabber launches Prime TV transmission

ISLAMABAD- Minister for information Javed Jabbar said the government has initiated a comprehensive programme of change and transformation to enable Pakistan become an important part of rapidly changing world.

He was speaking at the formal launching of the transmission of Prime TV for the viewers in Europe and the United Kingdom.

The launch of Prime TV through the Astra satellite represents a part of the action plan formulated by the present government to help improve the projection of Pakistan abroad, he said.

Javed Jabbar hoped that the transmission of Pakistan Television programme in Europe would serve as a mean for a two-way flow of talent, ideas, information and entertainment from Pakistan to Europe and from Pakistanis residing in Europe to the homeland.

PTV will provide Pakistanis and the people of South Asian origin in Europe with a continuous and comprehensive bond with the culture and the day-to-day events in Pakistan. It will also improve the standard of programme production and achieve credibility.

The Chief Executive of Prime TV, Tahir Memon said that the firm was using the Norwegian satellite known as Telenor to reach about 7000 households in Scandinavian countries and there is a potential market of about 60,000 households which may subscribe to Prime TV Channel over the next three years to watch PTV programmes.
