IT varsity to be functional in three months

KARACHI- Renovation work at the building of the proposed Information Technology University in Korangi is in full swing and will be completed within three months at a cost of Rs20 million.

The officials concerned said this to City Nazim (Administrator) Naimatullah during his visit to the site on June 7th, 2003. They said that 36 per cent work on the said project had so far been completed and inauguration of the varsity was likely to be held within the next four months.

The officials concerned said that space for 26 computer shops and two banks had been also reserved at the ground floor of the building. Tree plantation and road repair work was also going on around the university at a fast pace, the Nazim was apprised.

Speaking on the occasion, Naimat said that establishment of an IT University was a need of the hour and hoped that it would be an exemplary institution, terming it a unique gift for the people of Korangi by the city government.

The City Nazim said that he would continue conducting a fortnightly inspection of the ongoing project. He was informed that the project would be completed by June 30.
