ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday referring the Journalists beating case to the federal government has ordered the establishment division to take departmental action against guilty police officers.

Three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Abdul Hamid Dogar and Justice Mousa K Leghari, Justice Eijaz Yousaf on Wednesday heard the reference hearing.

When the proceedings started the defence told the Supreme court that under Services rule article 126 (3) of the constitution if the decision on an enquiry against government employees is not made within two months than the enquiry becomes ineffective. As enquiry against former Deputy Commissioner Ch Mohammad Ali, former IG Islamabad Marwat Ali Shah and former SSP Islamabad Dr Naeem has not been completed and neither they are at fault or have been proven guilty therefore case against them should be dismissed and they be reinstated.

The Supreme Court referring the case of the suspended officers to the federal government has directed the Establishment Division to review the case according to the law and if the officers in question are found guilty than departmental action be taken against them.

Attorney general of Pakistan Malik Qayyum was also present during the hearing of the case.
