Internet kiosks at Karachi airport

KARACHI- The Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Prof Dr Attaur-Rehman, performed the inauguration of the Internet kiosks at the Karachi airport.

As many as 50 Internet kiosks have been set up at Karachi, Peshawar, Islamabad and Lahore airports, and all of them will be operational within this week. As many as 22 kiosks Are at the airport at Karachi, 10 at Lahore, six at Peshawar, and 12 at Islamabad.

Every kiosk contains two computers – a Pentium Ill and a Celeron with a bandwidth of 56 kilobits. Dr Atta said that the kiosk facility was being provided for the first time in Pakistan and that it was the result of negotiations with the Intel president in Hong Kong a few months ago, on the occasion of a telecommunication conference.

The CAA director general, Air Marshal Aliuddin; Paknet managing director, Mueen Sadiq and Intel country manager, Kamil Hasan were also present at the inauguration.
