Intel India to set up IT centres in Karachi

KARACHI, January 27 2006: Intel India Private Ltd will establish Information Technology (IT) Awareness Centres in all the Union Councils of the city. Initially, a centre equipped with 10 computer systems would be established.

The representative of Intel Technology India Private Ltd representative Surendra Arora and Intel Corporation Pakistan’s Naila Qasim informed this during a meeting with the City Naib Nazim Nasreen Jalil here on Thursday.

CDGK Information Technology Executive District Officer (EDO) A D Sajnai and District Officer Computers Mushtaq Rizvi were also present in the meeting.

The delegation said it also intended to sell computer systems on instalment basis so that the maximum number of people could get benefit from this technology.

They presented the idea of video conferencing between the schools, which the Naib Nazim welcomed.

She said that would help create better awareness about the IT and its effective use among the students. Nasreen said the Citizen Development Board would also be involved in the IT promotion program.

Highlighting the significance of IT, the Naib Nazim said the progress of the country could be ensured only through the effective use of IT. “All the developed countries are making the best use of IT,” she said.
