Int’l Urdu Conference concludes

KARACHI: The Third International Urdu Conference 2010 concluded on Sunday after various beautiful programmes were held during the four-day event at the Arts Council, Karachi.

The theme of the conference was the 200th death anniversary of Emperor of Urdu Ghazal, Mir Taqi Mir, and the services of Allama Iqbal, the Poet of the East.

In the first session of the conference, importance and effects of Mir’s poetry on the Urdu language were highlighted by the speakers.

The grand international Urdu mushaira was one of the most interesting parts of the conference, in which renowned poets participated from across the globe.

Distinguished guests and scholars from various countries, including India, Bangladesh, UK, Kenya and Russia, presented their theses on various topics relating to the Urdu language and literature.

In the conference, the speakers shed light on the qualities, trends and effects of the Urdu literature.

They also talked about the needs of Urdu and the ways to promote the Urdu language and literature.

The speakers hailed the efforts being made across the world to introduce the world to the Urdu literature.

Book launching ceremonies were also organised in the conference, while the participants were also entertained with various musical concerts.

A large number of locals and delegations from various countries participated in the conference.
