Injuries to newsmen unfortunate: Nisar
ISLAMABAD- Information Minister Nisar Memon described the incident of journalists getting injured in Faisalabad as unfortunate and said the government holds freedom of the press as a cardinal principle.
“It is an unfortunate incident, we are concerned about the well-being of the journalists wounded there and I am in touch with them,” Nisar told the sources. Replying to a question about the inquiry into the incident, the minister said: “It is under way.
But no matter, who the people are, this is directly linked with the freedom of expression and the freedom of press. And the Musharraf government holds the freedom of the press in high esteem as a cardinal principle of its policies.” “The government’s commitment to freedom of the Press is categorical and let this incident be behind us,” he said. Nisar sent bouquets to the injured journalists and called them to inquire about their well-being.
