Information Technology (IT) government’s top priority, says minister

DERA ISMAIL KHAN- Federal Minister for Science and Technology Dr Atta-ur-Rehman has said that the spread of easy excess to information technology is the top priority of the government for which every resource is being mobilized.

He said that the present government was paying due attention to the expansion of modern technologies in all fields to bring the country on a par with developed countries of the world.

The minister said that Internet facility was available in only 29 cities till the closure of the last century, but in six months, it has expanded to 435 cities/town of the country and as such “we have covered more than 80 per cent in this field.”

The government has provided IT training to 25,000 people, including 15,000 in the public sector and 10,000 in the private sector, he said, adding that during current year, the same training would be provided to 100,000 more people.

He said that computer training at the school level would be provided to every school-going child for which the government would provide computer sets in all the institutions.
