Imran loses all rationale, relies on ex-Pemra chief
ISLAMABAD: PTI chief Imran Khan’s continuous outbursts against the Geo/Jang Group without evidence attempts to incite violence against the groups workers and now the open use of abusive language against the group’s editor-in-chief is simply exposing him more and more with every passing day.
Imran’s attempts to blackmail media persons will fail, as they will never deter them from exposing him and the failures of his government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa simply because of these dirty tactics.
Imran Khan’s attack on the person of Mir Shakilur Rahman, Editor-in-Chief of the Jang Group, with unfounded allegations speaks of his sick mind as even the PTI leaders admit that the basic objective of the attack was that the editor-in-chief will “order” working journalists to not expose the scandals and corruption of the PTI chief or his party’s government in KP where projects are being run with the help of mysterious foreign aid mostly from the UK.
Imran is unaware that the Jang Group is the largest, most successful and respected media group of the country because its top management always gives full independence to its journalists, which is not possible for some other totally business-minded people in the media industry.
The top management of the Jang Group has the decades-long history of a journalistic background; in fact, this is the real secret that every newspaper or TV channel of the group not only stands at number one but continues to maintain its position with the help of Allah Almighty.
There is no harm in disclosing this secret, as some business tycoons in the media industry can never afford giving such independence to their working journalists as their real objective is blackmail. Obviously, the Jang Group is not the only group following professional journalistic principles and there are many other respectable media groups.
Imran is being used by some secret hands which are not depending on any professional media group but some blackmailers in the media. People in these media organisations, instead of working hard or bringing exclusive and investigative stories, start maligning the Jang Group and then its top management by levelling baseless allegations which have always proved untrue.
One such allegation was that the Jang Group’s top management doesn’t pay taxes. When the government issued a tax directory, it was disclosed that the individual and companies’ taxes of the Geo/Jang Group was more than the collective taxes of all the others. In one case of another group, its tax is as low as Rs22 for one financial year. After failing on this front, Imran Khan accused the Jang Group of taking money for ‘Aman Ki Asha’.
The Jang Group officially challenged Imran Khan to prove a single penny taken for ‘Aman Ki Asha’, but instead of providing evidence, Imran is coming forward with new ridiculous allegations and insisting he was not running this malicious campaign on the orders of hidden hands in connection with the incident of the attack on Hamid Mir.
Now a person like Imran Khan whose party PTI used to raise the slogan of “Saaf Chali Shafaaf chali – Tehreek-e-Insaf chali” (PTI is clean) has to take the help of the sacked Pemra chairman Ch Rasheed. Ch Rasheed’s reputation is known by everyone. He has been facing big cases of corruption in the FIA and NAB.
Recently, he was caught red-handed by The News while making arrangements of a Chinese government TV channel with a private company and even admitted to the same in his response to the FIA. Imran added more allegations in his already existing list on the basis of information he said Ch Rasheed shared with him. Allegations remained allegations and Imran failed to present any evidence despite the fact that journalists continued to request him.
