Illegal VoIP set-up seized
RAWALPINDI: The joint teams of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) zonal office and FIA have seized illegal Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) consisting upon 40 SIMs capacity three international gateway exchange and arrested two persons in Sadiqabad, Rawalpindi, on Tuesday. This illegal gateway exchange inflicted heavy loss to national kitty.
The illegal gateway exchange was set up in a house, owned by Muhammad Hafiz, had been giving lead to the international exchange. On the news of arrival of raiding PTA and FIA teams the accused had destroyed the VoIP and escaped from the scene.
Later, FIA and PTA have arrested two persons along with equipment. According to the FIA, the VoIP Task Force of FIA have conducted two raids and demolished two big illegal VoIP exchanges with hundreds of reports and confiscated thousands of SIMs, ten illegal gateway and four laptops.Investigation was underway.
