Iftikhar urges journalists for impartiality

PESAHWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister for Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said that every individual should work for promotion of the entire society instead of promoting one’s own ends.This he said while speaking as chief guest at the concluding ceremony of a three-day conference held for journalists under the auspices of Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Peshawar, on Thursday.

Earlier, the minister also participated in the debate on the role of media and politicians. Addressing the ceremony, Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that journalism was a sacred profession and it was like eyes and ears of the society therefore journalists should take care of the sanctity of their profession and be impartial in their writings.

He said that people of all schools of thought have their rights, therefore all of them should be mindful of this fact. He said that no section of the society could be 100 percent correct, adding that every entity shall have its merits and demerits therefore the journalists should perform their role in a broader perspective. He also stressed the need for evolving a code of ethics for each section of the society including journalists, adding that it was necessary that all of them hold themselves accountable for their own deeds.
