HYDERABAD (February 11 2008): Society for the Protection of Rights of Children (SPARC) regional protection manager Kashif Bajeer and Child Rights Committee of Qamber Shadadkot and Larkana have strongly condemned the marriages of minor and underage girls and boys identified 3-year-old Tasleem and 4-year-old Farzana with their future husbands Abdul Rasool Mirjat 10 and Mohammed Saleh 14 by a family dispute, who were than sold by parents and others influential.
Kashif Bajeer has demanded for action against involved and hidden hands in the arranging of marriages after the so-called ‘Nikah’ at Warrah Taluka of Qamber Shahdadkot district. He also appealed the authorities and Court to take a suo motto action and punishment under the charges of Pakistan Penal Code to the cleric and other hidden hands.
SPARC’s Bajeer demanded the authorities for the protection and custody of minor girls and boys as well as investigations into the cases and reports to the Supreme Court.
Due to the filing of the reports recieved here by the Child Rights Committee (CRC) Qamber and Larkana representatives Miss Albia Bhatti and Mohd Khan have been taken to the custody of children from the District Court Qamber and handed over to mother and the relatives, sources disclosed.
