Hoti takes notice of rape case in Mansehra

MANSEHRA: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ameer Haider Hoti Saturday took notice of the rape of a young girl.

District Coordination Officer of Mansehra Dr Amber Ali Khan visited the affected family and handed over three-month ration to the family.

“I assured the family on behalf of the chief minister that the provincial government

will provide legal assistance to them and culprits will be taken to task,” Dr Amber Ali said.

The incident came to limelight when the local police arrested the main accused Mohammad Bashir after registering the first information report.

The victim, Safina Bibi, told the police that one Mohammad Bashir and three other persons kidnapped her and took to Hassanabdal.

She alleged she was raped repeatedly for six days.

Going into the details of her kidnapping, she said she fainted after the accused sprayed over her face.

The victim said the accused also took with them cash and valuables from her rented house.

Safina Bibi said she escaped from the kidnappers and reached Haripur district from where she phoned her brother to come to her rescue.

Investigation Officer Inspector Mohammad Anwar said the medical report had confirmed that she had been sexually assaulted.

He said that the main accused Bashir had been arrested and his accomplices would be arrested within the next 24 hours.

Talking to reporters, mother of the victim, urged the authorities concerned to award exemplary punishment to the culprits involved in disgracing her daughter.

The accused, Mohammad Bashir, told reporters at the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital where he had been taken for the medical test, said that he had not committed any crime. He said he was present at his home when the incident happened.
