‘Hardware industry needs govt support’

LAHORE: Director operations, raffles branded system Ibrahim Qureshi has urged the government to take timely measures for Pakistan’s survival in the world .trade war beginning by the year 2005, with implementation of WTO free trade policy.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Qureshi said in a free market principle, the absence of government regulation combined with an aggressive advocacy of uniform global development faith-fully, reflecting western corporate interests. He stated that local hard-ware industry is in development process and needs a boost. Market liberalization under WTO regime will bring in competition and destroy local hardware industry, which is not in a position to compete. Hence, he suggested that there is a need to encourage local hardware industry so as to improve market competition and sustainability. He also proposed to encourage branded products.
