Harassment of women at NGOs condemned
HYDERABAD – Leaders of the Aurt Azaad, an organization working for rights of women, has condemned alleged sexual harassment of women working in NGOs and indifferent attitude of officials.
In a joint statement issued here on Friday, noted writers and women rights activists Amar Sindhu, Attiya Dawood, Gul Badan Javed Mirza, Irfana and Rehana Channar alleged that only recently a woman employee of the National Rural Support Programme (NRSP), Hyderabad, was forced to resign because of sexual harassment and immoral advances of the officer concerned.
They demanded an impartial inquiry into the incident.
They were opposed to conducting the inquiry at the departmental level because they said transparency of such an inquiry would be doubtful and many questions would remain unanswered.
