Harassment of editor alarming
LAHORE: Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) chairperson Asma Jahangir on Monday said the complaint by Kamran Rehmat, an English newspaper editor, of harassment by unidentified people had alarmed media professionals. She said the HRCP wanted to bring it into the authorities’ notice that it was their responsibility to protect citizens and to help journalists perform their duties safely. The people who followed Rehmat on his way home last Wednesday, must be tracked down and brought to justice, she said, adding that Rehmat had noted down the number of one of the vehicles, but law enforcement had reported no progress.
