Hamid Mir attack to echo in NA today
ISLAMABAD: The issue of the assassination attempt on senior journalist and Geo TV anchorperson Hamid Mir would echo strongly in the National Assembly (NA) session starting Monday afternoon (today) at 4pm. Members from the opposition and treasury benches are expected to raise the issue through points of order and adjournment motions.
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) members including Sahibzada Tariqullah, Sahibzada Yaqoob, Sher Akbar Khan and Ayesha Syed had already submitted an adjournment motion with the NA Secretariat against the attack on Hamid Mir and to extend support to freedom of media. The house is likely to take up the adjournment motion for discussion on the matter by suspending routine business of the day. Journalist community would also express solidarity with Hamid Mir and register protest against murder attempt on him inside the press lobby and outside the Parliament House. The house is also likely to express solidarity with armed forces and reaffirm commitment for continuation of the democratic system besides taking up issue of dialogue with Taliban.
