Hamid Mir to address PPC by phone
PESHAWAR: Senior journalist and Geo TV anchorperson Hamid Mir will speak by phone to members of the civil society, traders and journalists at the Peshawar Press Club on Monday.
Hamid Mir, who was shot and injured by unidentified gunmen in Karachi and is now convalescing at his home in Islamabad, will address the Peshawar Press Club event in connection with the strike being observed on the call of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ).
The Khyber Union of Journalists (KhUJ) is also going to observe the ‘Hamid Mir Week’ on the call of the PFUJ from Monday during which people from different walks of life will record their observations regarding the situation that has arisen following the attempt on his life.
According to the press release of the KhUJ, the journalists will also bring out a procession to protest the attack on Hamid Mir and express solidarity with the Geo TV and Jang Group of Publications that are facing pressure from different quarters, including the military, to close down.
