Hajj awareness campaign: PTV, PBC, religious affairs ministry sign MoU
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Television, Radio Pakistan and the Ministry of Religious Affairs on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understand for Hajj Awareness Campaign, 2012. Joint Secretary Ministry of Religious Affairs Shahzad Ahmad, Managing Director PTV Yousuf Baig Mirza and Director General Radio Pakistan Murtaza Solangi signed the agreement. Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira and Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khurshid Shah also attended the ceremony.
Under the MOU, PTV and Radio Pakistan will broadcast a series of programmes in collaboration with the Ministry of Religious Affairs to create awareness among intending pilgrims about Hajj rituals. The PTV would telecast these programmes on PTV News and PTV Home while the Radio Pakistan would broadcast them on its medium wave and FM channels.
Radio Pakistan would also arrange to broadcast telephonic live programmes on FM-101 network to respond to queries of listeners/pilgrims once in every month during the campaign. Under the MOU the PTV and Radio Pakistan will also depute teams, comprising producers and co-ordinators, in Saudi Arabia for coverage of Hajj and production of documentaries. Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira lauded the role played by Pakistan Television and Radio Pakistan in creating awareness among pilgrims about Hajj rituals.
