Haiku poetry recited at PNCA

ISLAMABAD, Nov 30: The embassy of Japan organised Basho evening-recital of Haiku poetry at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) here on Tuesday.

The event, which started with screening of Japan video topic, Hiraizumi: Home City of Bosho, was co-organised by Pakistan Haiku Society, National Art Gallery, National University of Modern Languages and Pakistan Japan Cultural Association.

Mayumi Tsubakimoto, cultural officer at Japanese embassy, said that Haiku mushaira was being held in Islamabad after five years. He said Haiku is traditional Japanese poetry and mushaira is traditional Pakistani way of reciting poems. It was great to recite Japanese Haiku in Pakistani style, he said.

He thanked Iftikhar Arif, chairman National Language Authority, Tauqeer Nasir, director general PNCA, and others for organising the event.
