It needs to be dealt by strictly enforcing environment friendly technology at industries with scientists given an enhanced role to provide healthy environment for the community.

This was stated by Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Zakir Hussain at a seminar titled ‘Collaborative Endeavours of Chemistry in Industry’ arranged by the Department of Chemistry, GCUF.

Dr Zakir said strong relations between the industry and chemistry experts will help address the issues by adopting a comprehensive strategy in this regard. It is very important to step up efforts to reduce the hazardous impact of industrial waste, he added.

He said as many as 37% of Pakistan’s population is living in cities making it the most urbanised country in South Asia.
