‘Govt patronising channels promoting religious extremism’
KARACHI: The government is patronising some private media channels promoting religious extremism. Many of these media channels don’t even have licences.
These thoughts were expressed by Sheema Kirmani, the Sindh Campaign Cell Chairperson of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra), here at a PMA seminar on Friday. Sheema Kirmani said in the seminar that when the matter was brought to the notice of the prime minister, Fauzia Wahab stopped her from taking action against such media channels.Fauzia Wahab chose not to comment on the matter at the seminar which drew criticism from the participants.
