ISLAMABAD: The high command of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the government have finally decided to establish a Seraiki province, reliable sources revealed here.

It is said that President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani have completed their interaction with different political leaders. Parliamentarians from south Punjab have also been consulted and their proposals being given due weight. The allied parties have been informed of the decision and no party has raised any objection to the proposal.

According to well-informed sources, President Zardari will announce formation of a Seraiki province in a public meeting most probably on August 14. It is worth mentioning that people, politicians, and social and political organizations have been demanding a separate province so that the area may prosper and more employment opportunities are created.

According to political observers, the PML-N will be the biggest loser in case Seraiki province is set up while PPP is likely to be the biggest beneficiary as there are bright chances of the PPP forming government in the new province. President Asif Ali Zardari had kept the Seraiki province card close to his chest and it is being played at an opportune moment. Sources said preparations are being made in the Presidency and PM House for making an announcement about the Seraiki province.
