Govt believes in freedom of the press
HAFIZABAD – While inauguÂrating the office of the newlyÂ
published weekly ‘Zahid nama’ the Provincial Minister, Ch Shaukat Ali Bhatti has declared that the present government is press-friendly and would always welcome positive criticism for the resolution of the problems of the masses.
He congratulated the Editor of the weekly’Zahid nama’, Mr Zahid Sheikh for starting publication of the weekly on Independence Day and prayed for its success.
He said that the Prime MinisÂter, Ch Shujat Hussain has asÂsured the’ withdrawal of proÂposed amendment in DefamaÂtion Law and other Press related laws in the light of Press freedom. He said that the present government believes in Press freedom and would not enact any law, which throttles the press.
