Government to facilitate IT investors

KARACHI- The Provincial Minister for Finance and Vice Chairman Sindh IT Board, Dr Abdul Hafeez, has said bright opportunities exist for investment in information technology and other sectors and government will provide best possible facilities to prospective investors.

He was talking to the Business Development Manager of Saudi Marsad Net Ltd, Jajmoom Group, Nayab Gohar, on November 11, 2002. Nayab Gohar informed the minister that the group was already carrying out GIS and GPS commercial activities in Saudi Arabia and Middle East countries.

However, as a follow-up to the ITCN Dehran held in October this year, he said the company had decided to increase its business links with Pakistan in view of the country’s high capability with lower rates in IT. In this regard, he informed, the company had entered into an agreement with ITech, a Pakistani IT company.

The Chief Executive ITech, Syed Khurshid Shah, informed the minister that Marsad was working in Saudi Arabia on GIS and GPS projects and was planning to outsource GIS activity to Pakistan from January 2003. He said the project was estimated to cost $10 million annually.
