Government taking all steps to strengthen media: Durrani
ISLAMABAD: We are taking all necessary steps to strengthen national media, said Information and Broadcasting Federal Minister Muhammad Ali Durrani while talking to the British High Commissioner Robert Brinkley who visited the minister at his office here on Wednesday.
“The vibrant media is helping in delivering justice to society and creating a system of checks-and-balances in society,” he said.
Durrani said the government acknowledged the contribution of the journalist community in taking media to the level where it stood today. The British high commissioner said environment for proper functioning, modern technology and infrastructure were important for proper functioning of media organisations. He said the real success story of Pakistani media had been the environment the country provided to its media to match the international standards. Matters of mutual interest also came under discussion during the meeting.
