Government raises special pay, allowances of employees

ISLAMABAD: The government on Wednesday almost doubled special pay and allowances admissible to the civil employees of the Federal government with effect from July 1st, 2012.

According to the notification issued by the Finance Ministry on Wednesday, the government has also increased the senior post allowance of the officials working in BPS 20 to 22 grades.

Meanwhile, the travelling and mileage allowance of the civil employees have also been enhanced.

The government has increased the SAS/PFA allowance from exiting Rs 400 per month to Rs 800 per month, ICMA/ICWA (part-III) allowance has been enhanced from exiting Rs 400 to Rs 800 per month and ICMA/ICWA allowance has been increased to Rs 2,100 from existing Rs 1,200 per month.

Similarly, Chartered Accountant allowance has been enhanced from Rs 1,300 to Rs 2,300 per month, staff college/NMC/NDC allowance went upto Rs 2,000 from existing Rs 1,000 per month, NIPA advanced course allowance has been increased to Rs 1,000 from existing Rs 500 per month and mid-career Mgt course allowance has been doubled to Rs 500 from existing Rs 250 per month.

According to the notification, the senior post allowance for the official working in BPS-20 has been enhanced to Rs 1,250 per month from existing Rs 1,100 per month.

Meanwhile, senior post allowance for the official working in BPS-21 has been revised to Rs 1,350 per month from existing Rs 1,200 per month and senior post allowance for the official working in BPS-22 has been increased to Rs 1,750 per month from Rs 1,600 per month.

Meanwhile, according to the notification, in transportation allowance, motorcar allowance has been increased to Rs 5 per kilometer from existing Rs 2 per kilometer and motorcycle/scooter allowance has been enhanced to Rs 2.50 per kilometer from existing Rs 1 per kilometer.

Similarly, in mileage allowance, personal car/taxi allowance has been increased to Rs 10 per kilometer from Rs 5 per kilometer, motorcycle/scooter allowance has been enhanced to Rs 4 per kilometer from Rs 2 per kilometer, bicycle allowance has went up to Rs 2 per kilometer from Rs 1 per kilometer and public transport allowance increased to Rs 2.50 per kilometer from existing Rs 1 per kilometer.

According to the notification, orderly allowance for BPS 20 to BPS 22 officials has been brought at par with minimum wage, as it has been revised to Rs 7,000 per month from exiting Rs 3,000 per month.
