Government providing every support to foreign Information Technology (IT) companies

KARACHI – Sindh Minister for Finance and the Chairman of Sindh IT board, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, has said that government was providing every possible support to the foreign based IT companies in the province in order to promote information technology (IT).

Inaugurating the eWorld-banking seminar organized by Hewlett Packard (HP), the minister said that Pakistan offered immense opportunities of foreign investment. The minister in his very brief address said that he as a chairman of IT board would extend all possible help to the IT companies to set up their business here.

He said HP and their partner Oracle have entered Pakistan because of tremendous opportunities of growth the country offers.

Earlier, Nigel Lee, Sales Business Development Manager, Server Solutions, HP, said that the company had been providing all kinds of solutions related with servers and other allied products. HP is focussing on making technology and its benefits accessible to individuals and business through simple appliances, useful e-services and the Internet infrastructure that’s always on.

He added that HP has emerged as a world leading company in providing e-banking solutions.

Lee briefed the participants about the latest developments taking place in e-banking sector.

He showed a number of slides of various HP products including servers and their applications.

Nafiz Muhammad, Regional Business Director Financial Services Industry, Oracle South Asia speaking on the occasion said that Oracle which is also a partner of HP has been providing all solutions related with banking. He added Oracle has completed 12 years of its association with HP. He pointed out that Pakistan has enormous potential to leap forward in the field of information technology.
