‘Government believes in freedom of press’

HYDERABAD: The Advisor to C.M. for Information Jamil Ahmed Soomro has condemned the attempt to murder on Bureau Chief of private News channel Hyderabad Anwar Kamal and said that the journalists were the trusty of the society, therefore, such attacks are being considered as attempts on the whole society.

While inquiring about the health from Anwar Kamal at a private hospital last night Jamil Soomro said that the anti-social/democratic elements were targeting to the journalists just to create panic and unrest among this sensitive segment of the society but the pro-democratic forces and journalists must foil such nefarious designs of the enemies who want to curb the freedom of press. He said that the government believes in freedom of press and to undertake its all efforts to protect the forth pillar of the state.

Meanwhile, the Advisor to C.M. Sharmilla Farooqui also condemned the attack on Anwar Kamal and termed it as attempt on the democracy and voice of the people. She said that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government doesn’t allow any miscreant to create unrest among the society and added that not only present government but PPP itself stands with the Journalists as it did in the past.
