Girls sweep away all top positions
MULTAN: With all the three overall top positions, the girls completely outshined boys in BA/BSc annual examination, 2011 as the Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) announced the result here on Sunday.
Declaring the result, BZU Controller (Examinations) Malik Munir Ahmad said that 45189 candidates appeared in the BA/BSc examination out of which 17148 were declared successful while 28041 got failed. Thus the overall success ratio in this examination stood at 37.95 percent. The examination had commenced on April 9 and ended on July 2.
All the three overall top positions were bagged by the students of private colleges as the state-run colleges failed to get any position. The overall first position was clinched by Iffat Fida Hussain, Roll No 43605, student of Punjab College for Women, who secured 742 marks while Addeba Sadiq, Roll No 43609, student of the same college, grabbed second position with 720 marks. Similarly, the third place was occupied by Iqra Riaz, Roll No 43497 of Central College who obtained 707 marks.
Giving statistics, the controller said that the BA examination was taken by 37673 candidates out of which 13556 got through, constituting 35.98 percent pass percentage. Similarly, as many as 7516 candidates appeared in BSc examination and 3592 successfully qualified the examination. The success ratio in BSc stood at 47.79 percent.
The controller told the journalists that 14202 candidates took examination as regular students out of which 8127 passed while 30987 private candidates appeared and 9021 got through.
The overall first, second and third position holders were also declared toppers of BSc Group as Iffat Fida Hussain stood first with 742 marks, Addeba Sadiq second with 720 marks and Iqra Riaz third with 707 marks.
BA POSITIONS: The position stand in BA group was also completely dominated by the female candidates as they swept away all the three positions. Zoya Zafar, Roll No 2048, student of Government College for Women Jalalpur Pirwala, stood first with 666 marks. The second position was clinched by Shaista Malik, Roll No 5729, student of Government Degree College for Women Chungi No-6, who got 648 marks while the third position was again taken by another student fo Jalalpur Pirwala College namely Warda Bashir, Roll No 2021, who obtained 645 marks.
UNFAIR MEANS CASES: The Controller told the journalists that as many as 36 Unfair Means Cases (UMCs) were registered during the examination and 15 were decided while rest of 21 were still under trial.
CASH PRIZES FOR POSITION HOLDERS: Though the cash prize worth Rs20,000 was announced for each of the first position holders in all categories, Rs15,000 second and Rs10,000 third position holders, nothing was given to the students because of the absence of the Vice Chancellor.
The position holders were just handed their merit certificates and were told that a ceremony will take place later to give them prizes after the appointment of the VC.
