Girl loses leg while thwarting rape attempt

LAHORE – A young girl (20) was deprived of her one leg during an operation in Mayo Hospital to save her life after she got brutally wounded while thwarting a rape attempt on Friday.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has sought immediate report from CCPO Lahore Pervaiz Rathor over the incident.
Fozia, whose parents had died, was living with her brothers and sisters in a house at Mukadas Park Gulshan Ravi.
She was alone at home when her cousin Nadeem Abbas along with his three accomplices knocked at her door. When she opened, they stormed into the house and tried to rape her.
The accused tied her legs and hands with her Dupata when the victim raised hue and cry and put strong resistance to foil the rape attempt.
The culprits increased the volume of television so that nobody could listen her cries. However, after failing in the attempt to deflower her, they made consecutive attacks by sharp weapons on different parts of her body.
They injured her limbs, including legs, hands and shoulders. They made off after committing the heinous crime
Speculation remained circulating in the surroundings of locality that accused Nadeem Abbas wounded and attempted to rape her after she denied to marry him. She was rushed to a hospital in precarious condition.
On Sunday, a doctor conducted an operation and had to cut her leg to save her life.
Victim’s elder sister Khalida said that police had registered a case but could not arrest the accused so far.
SSP Investigation Shoaib Khurram said that the accused would be busted soon.
The chief minister took serious notice of the issue and sought immediate report from the CCPO.
An FIR has been registered with no arrest so far.
