Girl, counsel injured on court premises
TOBA TEK SINGH: A girl and her lawyer were injured on the premises of the Tehsil courts in Kamalia on Friday.
After Salma of Mauza Chah Shamoonwala had contracted a love marriage with Farooq without her parents’ consent, her parents registered a kidnap case against her husband.
On the day of the incident, Salma and her husband along with their lawyer Mian Muhammad Farooq appeared before Additional District Sessions Judge Rana Abdul Qayyum for pre-arrest bail. In the meantime, relatives of Salma attacked and injured her and her lawyer.
Later, addressing a press conference, the lawyer said he had written an application to the Kamalia City police for registering a case against the relatives of Salma. He said the court granted pre-arrest bail to the couple.
On the other hand, the Kamalia Bar Association held a meeting and condemned the attack on the lawyer. The meeting demanded immediate arrest of the attackers.
