Geo’s new morning show sets record on first day

KARACHI: Geo’s ‘Subhe Pakistan’ hosted by Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain has set new records of popularity on the opening day.

The family show has been specially designed for women, kids, youth, students and people from all age groups. The programme, which continued live for four-and-a-half-hours, set the record for the longest live morning show on the opening day. The show opened with recitation from Quran. Sheheryar Tariq presented the theme song. Renowned scholar Allama Kaukab Noorani Okarvi, TV actress Maria Wasti and comedian Kashif Khan participated in the programme. Dr Aamir appeared as a versatile host in the show.

Media experts hoped that ‘Subhe Pakistan’ will set new records in the electronic media.In his opening remarks, Dr Aamir said that the show is for each and every member of this society. ‘Subhe Pakistan’ is like a lamp lit for removing darkness and bringing smiles to sad faces. He criticised the morning shows being presented during the last few years. He said that eastern traditions had been ignored in these shows that presented dances and shouting. This morning show can be watched with all the family members.

The morning show started with a positive approach.The morning show started with Qiraat by well-known Qari Abdul Wadood Asim. It was for the first time in the history of the media that a morning show began with recitation from the Holy Quran. It was also something unique that the national anthem was also sung in a morning show.

The topic of the first morning show was on an important social tradition that girls’ engagement were denied on the basis of some negligible defects in her looks. The viewers liked the discussion, considering it as an issue of every house.

In relation with this issue, an educated girl participated in the programme along with her mother. She is suffering the agony of her rejection from marriage on the ground that she had lost one of her eyes in an accident.

Her story was so much inspiring that all participants of the event were deeply impressed. Speaking on the occasion, the head of the Sawad-e-Azam Ahl-e-Sunnat (Haqiqi) and Mualana Okarvi Academy International, Maulana Kaukab Noorani, expressed his views. He said standard in such matters in Islam is Taqwa (character) while beauty and appearance is not the basis. It is allowed in Islam to see the girl but in a way that she does not feel insulted or humiliated in any manner. He said it is not the human beings who frame the appearance and pointed out that permission of a to-be-wife is compulsory for the solemnising of a Nikah.

Maria Wasti, who was the central character of drama serial ‘Kalmoohi’ of the Geo TV, especially attended the show. She said rejecting a proposal for marriage merely on the basis of appearance is extremely objectionable. She said the parents adopt double standards in this connection. Their standards for their own daughter is different from the standards they set for the daughter of other family.

A psychiatrist Dr Sara Khan stated that marriage is a beautiful combination of sentiments and the nature. She pointed out that a woman proves to be the worst enemy of a woman as in such rejection cases, the role of bridegroom’s mother and sisters is vital.

Bano Khan, a woman engaged in arranging marriages, said engagements are rejected on the basis of height, colour and appearance of a girl. As a result, the rejected girl and her parents feel humiliated and fall victim to different psychological and physical ailments.

Dr Amir Liaquat announced on the occasion that he would bear all the expenses of the marriage, including dowry, of the marriage of affected girls if greed is not the basis of such marriage and engagements are arranged on the basis of qualities of girls.

Well-known comedian Kashif Khan’s presence kept viewers of the show pleased with his comments on ‘Diwar-e-Khabria’ with his sarcastic comments on the news. He made the audience laugh even during the segment of cooking.

In the segment ‘Masail Aapkay Hal Wazaif Say’, a known spiritual personality Maulana Basheer Farooq Qadri, guided the viewers for Wazaif in accordance with Quran and Sunnah.The morning show ended with Dr Amir Liaquat Hussain’s impressive remarks and a song by a new singer Fahad.
