General Kayani gets two-year extension: Aaj News
KARACHI: The government has decided to give a two-year extension to the incumbent Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Aaj News reported late Friday night. Quoting sources, the channel claimed that a notification in this respect is likely to be issued within the next 48 hours.
Another private TV channel claimed that a new post of Vice Chief of Staff is being created. In October 2007, Kayani was promoted as a full general, and made the Vice Chief of Army Staff. He took over as the new army chief after Musharraf’s retirement on November 28, 2007. However, presidential spokesperson Farhatullah Babar expressed his ignorance about these developments.
