Gender discrimination and women’s jobs

REFERRING to widespread gender discrimination in public sector organisations, a Planning Commission study has revealed that none of the ministries is setting aside 10 per cent of the jobs for women as required under the Constitution.

Similarly, in case of rifts with other colleagues, women employees did not have the necessary support to fight back and thus let other people get promoted.

People may deny this but the fact is that gender discrimination against women still exists. In the administration, women are employed in lower grades on posts such as of assistants, stenographers and computer operators which do not have any career growth potential.

This is certainly very disappointing as I myself have faced some issues and I can well imagine what is happening with women as far as their career is concerned.
