LAHORE: Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday ordered the officials concerned to conduct fresh probe into the Sonia Naz rape case, said a DGPR handout.

Advisor to CM Jahanzeb Barki has been appointed an inquiry officer in this regard. Barki will review the investigation keeping in view various aspects of the case and if needed, will recommend further action. In 2005, Sonia, a 23-year-old mother of two, accused then Jaranwala station house officer Jamshed Chishti of kidnapping and raping her on orders of then superintendent of police Abdullah.
