Fresh plea for Dr Aafia’s repatriation filed with IHC
ISLAMABAD: A fresh plea seeking repatriation of Dr Aafia Siddique from the US was filed with the Islamabad High Court here on Thursday.
The petition was moved by Ismat Siddiqui, Dr Aafia’s mother, and Iftikhar Hussain Rajpoot through Barrister M. Javed Jafferi.
The petitioners stated that the government should be directed to immediately bring her back and take the matter to the International Court of Justice.
Ministries of foreign affairs and interior, Sindh police chief, former president Pervez Musharraf, former prime minister Shaukat Aziz, former minister Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat and others have been made respondents.
IHC Registrar Office said they would decide about fixation of the writ or otherwise within a few days. Former IHC chief justice Sardar Mohammad Aslam had decided a similar case earlier this month, directing the respondents to take steps for Dr Aafia’s repatriation.
