Fourth death anniversary of Muhammad Ali observed

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani film industry and people observed the 4th death anniversary of Muhammad Ali, on Friday.

Muhammad Ali was the greatest film icon of Pakistan and was known in the film circle for his command as a passionate actor and his ease in dramatic situations as well.

Talking to a private news channel, his colleague and renowned artist Qavi Khan said Muhammad Ali was the king of the film Industry as he was not only an actor but an emblem of generosity and grace. Ali was a perfect human being with a beautiful and kind heart, he was a legend as an artist and a source of inspiration as a person, Qavi Khan stated.

He gave several powerful performances through out his illustrious career. In filming of one of such films he fall in love with his gorgeous co-star Zeba, they got married and became the most talked about couple of the industry.

In an interview with a private news channel his widow Zeba said that they both started working in the films together. They got married after 5 to 6 years of their film career and spent 38 long years together. With wet eyes Zeba added that it seems to her as if she has spent all her life with him.

Muhammad Ali felt strongly about the deteriorating quality of cinema in Pakistan and kept warning producers that low quality films would push audiences away from cinema. He was also an active philanthropist through out his life and found the Ali Zaib Foundation in the 1990s to help the terminally ill, especially those suffering from cancer. In recognition of his services he was awarded with several awards at national and international level.

After his retirement from films, Mohammad Ali was asked in a television show about his dissociation from the films, and he said: “The atmosphere in which I was accustomed to work for films and the way films were made have entirely changed, hence I bid it Adieu”. Mohammad Ali died at the age of 75 due to a heart attack in Lahore, on March 19, 2006 leaving a vacuum that no one has been able to replace. CNN has issued a list of 25 great actors of the subcontinent and Muhammad Ali and Zeba are included in this list.
