Four journalists arrested for ‘VCR theft’

HYDERABAD- Police arrested four working journalists of Dadu district in a VCR-theft.

According to reports reaching here four journalists Gullan Bhand, N Sheikh, Dadan Bhand and Hafiz Mian Mohammad Pirzada had gone to the office of SSP Dadu Haji Mushtaq Meher. After a few minutes, the SSP summoned the SHO and asked him to register an FIR against the said journalists on the complainant of some Wali Mohammad Lund.

Later, police threw all the four in a mobile and shifted them to an unknown place. Raids for the arrests of other journalists are also being conducted by the police.

President Dadu Press Club Javed Narejo has condemned the police action and termed it an attempt to harass the journalist community. He said that the SSP Dadu had been using threatening language for the newsmen since his posting in the district. The journalists of Dadu had announced to observe black day throughout the province. They have demanded of Chief Executive General Musharraf, Governor Muhammadmian Soomro and the IGP Sindh to look into the issue and order the release of the journalists.
