Five suspects remanded in Wali Babar murder case

Karachi: Administrative Judge of Anti Terrorism Courts in Karachi remanded five suspects to police custody in Geo TV reporter Wali Khan Babar murder case.

Mohammad Shahrukh, 22, Faisal Mehmood, 43, Mohammad Shakeel, 42, Syed Tahir Naveed Shah, 32, and Syed Mohammad Ali Rizvi, 38, were produced before Administrative Judge Justice Maqbool Baqar for obtaining their remand.

Investigation officer Noor Sabir submitted that the suspects were arrested from Gulshan-e-Iqbal area after a shootout and during interrogation they confessed their involvement in Geo TV reporter Wali Khan Babar murder case.

Investigation officer sought police remand of the suspects till April 21, submitting that the absconding co-accused have to be arrested and weapon used in the crime was yet to be recovered. Remanding the suspects to police custody till April 18, AJ Justice Maqbool Baqar directed investigation officer not to maltreat the suspects during investigation.

The Geo TV reporter was shot dead on January 13 this year near Super Market area in Liaquatabad. The case has been registered at Super Market police station under murder and terrorism charges. Liaquat Ali, Faisal, Asad, Nasir, Kamran, Saeed Commando and other co-accused were still at large.
