Five alleged rapists still at large

DERA GHAZI KHAN, April 01,2005: Taunsa Sharif police have failed to arrest the five accused who had allegedly gang-raped two sisters some eight days ago.

The police, however, claimed that the accused had taken refuge in the tribal area and that they were in negotiation with their influential people for the arrest of alleged rapists.

Accused Ameer Muhammad, Jehangir Ahmed, Nazeer Ahmed, Sonhara Khan and Habibullah had allegedly gang-raped unmarried sisters on March 23 owing to some enmity. The incident took place in the limits of Wahowa police station in Taunsa Sharif tehsil.

On the report of victims’ father, the police had registered a case. The accused blamed they had raped the girls to take revenge from their father who had relations with their mother.

Meanwhile, Wahowa muharrer Hadayatullah said the police had received the medical report which indicated that the girls had not been raped. DPO Chaudhry Sulaiman said the accused had taken refuge in the tribal area. The political assistant to tribal area and BMP commandant Imtiaz Shah said neither police had contacted for the arrest of the accused nor had accused taken refuge in tribal area.
