FIA foils human smuggling bid
RAWALPINDI – FIA Immigration officials foiled an attempt of human smuggling at Islamabad International Airport and off-loaded some eight persons who were being smuggled to Europe via China and also arrested the agent involved in the crime.
Additional Director FIA Immigration Syed Kalim Imam got information about the move and directed his staff to beef up checking on all the flights heading for China from the airport.
During checking of the documents of passengers to take the CZ-6008 flight bound for China immigration staff found some eight persons. When interrogated these persons said that they had given some Rs 30 lakh to one Attiqur Rehman who had promised him to take them to some European state via China.
FIA Immigration officials off-loaded these eight persons who were later identified as Abdul Wahid, Muhammad Asif, Muhammad Hamyun, Muhammad Imran, Muhammad Yaqoob, Zeeshan, Muhammad Wasim Sajid and Nadeem.
The agent Muhammad Attiqur Rehman was also arrested by the FIA officials and further investigations were under way in this regard.
