Faryal Talpur files defamation case
KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari’s sister Faryal Talpur sued a local TV channel, its anchorperson, a newspaper, and a private airline for allegedly involving her as financer of a private airline.
The plaintiffí’ counsel submitted that neither did the plaintiff own the airline nor did she have a share in it but the defendants deliberately defamed her through their act and prayed the court to decree against them in sum of Rs100 million for causing damage to the reputation of plaintiff.
The SHC’s single bench, headed by Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, after preliminary hearing of the lawsuit, issued notices to the private airline, the local TV channel, its anchorperson, a newspaper and directed them to file their replies on the lawsuit. The court, in the meantime, restrained the defendants from telecasting or publishing any news on the subject matter of the lawsuit till the next date of hearing.
